Real Baby Milk Conference

Eagerly awaited, the photographs from the Real Baby Milk Conference held to launch Breastfeeding Awareness Week, can be found here on Flickr.

Nearly one hundred women (and a few men), some with their babies and children, came along to learn more about peer supporting breastfeeding women, to meet other peer supporters and workers with health from across Cornwall and Plymouth.

Infant Feeding Co-ordinators, Helen Shanahan and Stephanie Heard ran the first session, looking at positioning and attachment, Arwen Folkes (Real Baby Milk) and Jon Teague (Cornwall Rural Community Council) then looked at fundraising for sustainability. A hearty lunch was served and followed by workshops covering recognising tongue tie by Mary O’Connell (midwife at Penrice) and supporting women who feed for longer which was run by Louise Hunt and Stephanie Heard.

The day ended with the inaugural, “Peer Supporter of the Year” Award which was won by Lesley Ibbotson, from Camborne Breastfriends.

The Real Baby Milk team who organised and ran the day consisted of; Arwen Folkes, Nancy Morris, Louise Hunt, Rachel Devine, Hattie Lawrence and respctive partners!  Thansk to all who helped, spoke and came along!
